BLOG 19: PROTAGONIST DEEP DIVE

Hey, beautiful🌷, Welcome back to my blog! 

    It's GIGI's day🎉. It is a SPECIAL day where we will officially have a "little-get-to-know-each-other" session. Today we will dig deep into Gigi as a person, from her physical characteristics to her personality to her psychological state. We will analyze the associated costumes/props and the meaning/clue they suggest. With that being said, let's SLIDE right into today's content🛝.

    From the start, we wanted our Gigi to be something different from peers her age. Gigi, in our imagination, is a unique girl who doesn't follow the norms; she is rebellious and yet resilient at the same time. She's a strong-willed brunette who will speak her heart without any hesitation. The freckles on her face were distributed BEAUTIFULLY; they looked like a group of uniformed fireflies in the vast sky. Her eyes are the color of the earth, perfectly reflecting the overwhelming energy she always carries. They were so bright and sparkly until that unfortunate incident; it took the spark in her eyes. Now she always has sadness hidden in her eyes; the incident took a toll on her emotional state.

    The props and the costume are the giveaway clues that indicate to the audience that she's our PRECIOUS main character. From being the only character to appear in the film opener, her outfit was the center of the audience's attention; with an addition of the calendar and the birthday sash, these overall create a clear image of a girl who's doing some unsure thing (at least for the first 10 seconds of the opener) on her birthday. There is not much information to clarify what she's doing in the beginning of the film; however, the birthday sash hints to the audience that she might be preparing for her birthday. Furthermore, our birthday girl is dressed in a cropped pink jacket that is practically the STAR of her whole entire fit, by emphasizing the color pink in her outfit. It helps the audience to make connections to the pink theme room; with only the outfit, the viewers can somewhat guess Gigi's real identity, the LOVELY owner of this pink room.

Lastly, we wanted to portray Gigi as a resilient girl who, despite the recent unfortunate incident, still pulls through to arrange her own coming-of-age party. Gigi is an easygoing girl who is LOVED by everyone. She's kind and warm but straightforward; she speaks her mind clearly without any worries. She is the type of person who will immediately tell people if she's uncomfortable; she is a fearless individual. Nonetheless, just like other teenagers, Gigi is extremely sensitive to emotion; it definitely got worse after the incident. The audiences can witness this clearly in the climax portion of the opener. Gigi went straight into a DISTRAUGHT psychological state after her dad's sudden absence; she's full of rage, resentment, sadness with a big component of disappointment.
