BLOG 20: COLOR DYNAMICS

Today, I will switch roles to be a psychologist to PROFESSIONALLY analyze the color used in my project. I will detail the psychological effect being expressed for every color that appeared as well as elaborate on the meanings behind each careful color selection. With that being said, let's RUN to today's blog💨!!
Within the first few seconds of the film, pink MUST have been the only color that caught your attention. This color was NOT planned; however, the pink color unintentionally added a comforting mood to the overall film opener. According to multiple psychologists, the color pink was proven to be used to induce calmness; this helped ease the audiences, which allowed them to FULLY appreciate the film opener. Additionally, the color pink significantly enhances Gigi's femininity; it serves as a brief foreshadow, as the opener will soon reveal that Gigi's preparing for her coming-of-age party. By repeatedly displaying pink in the frames, this soothing color IMPRINTS Gigi's journey into womanhood into the viewers' minds. This aids in building the tension, allowing the audience to fully prepare for the future unfortunate conflict (NO spoiler yet😁).
I bet Gigi's costume is another thing that has your heart (because me too😍). By pairing a cropped pink jacket with a white tank top, we were able to portray a pure, charming teenager who is about to have her coming-of-age party. As the pink jacket is the main key to Gigi's look, the color conveyed a feminine look with a hint of elegance, perfect to capture the uniqueness of a young woman. The white tank top helped reflect Gigi's innocence; it illustrates her pure joy as she is about to celebrate a MAGNIFICENT transition with her loved ones. On top of that, the film opener starts off with a bright, warm tone filter to reflect Gigi's excited state of mind, then we intentionally change the filter to a cool hue right after the conflict is revealed to symbolize the emotional transition Gigi had. Gigi was in a DISTRAUGHT emotional state that is impossible to express in words. It is the total mess that is composed of disappointment, resentment, and anger, along with sadness.
